Inflatable tent vs pop-up frame tent – which should you choose?
We compare inflatable tents with traditional pop-up tents with metal frames: weight, set-up, stability, print area, lifespan and cost per event.
Short answer
If you need a cheap tent for the occasional event, a simple pop-up tent with a metal frame is often enough. If the tent will be used often, needs to stand out and be quick to set up – at trade shows, paddocks, races or campaigns – an inflatable tent with custom print is usually the better choice.
Set-up
A pop-up frame tent has to be unfolded, locked and fitted with walls and roof. An inflatable tent is connected to a pump and stands in a few minutes. There are no loose parts that can jam, bend or get lost.
Stability and safety
The inflatable legs are flexible. If someone walks into the tent or a gust of wind catches it, it gives way instead of buckling. The tent should always be anchored with ground pegs or weights, just like a regular tent.
Print and visibility
An inflatable tent can be printed in full colour over the whole surface – legs, roof and walls – and the shape itself becomes part of the brand. It stands out in a completely different way than a square frame, which is why inflatable tents have become common in paddocks, at trade shows and at events.
Materials and lifespan
Our tents are made from 400D Oxford fabric, the industry standard for inflatables. The fabric normally lasts 3–5 years depending on how often it is used. The TPU air bladders inside last around 1–3 years and can be replaced, giving the tent a longer life.
Cost per event
An inflatable tent costs more to buy than a simple pop-up tent. Calculated per use, the difference shrinks: a tent used at 10 events quickly becomes good value compared with single-use materials.
